Legendary NHL journalist Larry Brooks has died.

Brooks was the one behind Henrik Lundqvist's nickname "King Henrik." It was a nickname that Rangers fans quickly took to heart and that stuck with the Swedish goalie star throughout his career.

Larry Brooks worked for 38 years at the New York Post, primarily covering the New York Rangers.

Brooks has been honored for his work by the Hockey Hall of Fame, among other things.

The New York Post reports that Larry Brooks died after a short illness from cancer. He was 75 years old.

"RIP Larry," Henrik Lundqvist writes on Instagram above a copy of the New York Rangers' memorial service for Brooks.
