The goalkeeper made a string of saves as Spain pushed for the lead in Monday's match. The Spaniards, who are favourites for the gold medal, were unable to break the deadlock and the match ended goalless.
After the final whistle, Josimar Diaz Vozinha was very emotional and he told the New York Times why.
"I cried because my grandparents, who I grew up with, couldn't be here. They passed away a few years ago. My mother couldn't be here either because of visa problems and the money we had to pay for it. We didn't have time to sort it out," he said.
