It was unexpectedly hot in Paris on Monday, over 30 degrees. It almost proved the downfall of 15th seed Casper Ruud. Russian qualifier Roman Sfiullin came back from 0–2 down to level at 2–2 after winning the fourth set 6–0.
"I felt absolutely miserable; I could barely see the ball. My body temperature was too high. It was very, very tough," Ruud said in the post-match interview.
He managed to regain his strength in the fifth set, which he won 6–2.
I'm tired, but very happy, Ruud said.
