I'm very happy to have this medal, and I hope to represent Romania at the highest level and bring home more medals, says Barbosu.

Barbosu had to wait for her Olympic Games bronze, since it initially went to Jordan Chiles in the final.

American Chiles initially seemed to end up in fifth place, and Barbosu in third place. But Chiles' coach asked the jury to review her points, and she was then moved up to the bronze medal, to the great disappointment of Barbosu and the Romanian team.

The Romanian Gymnastics Federation appealed the final result to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas). This led to Jordan Chiles being stripped of the bronze, which once again went to Barbosu, as Cas deemed that the American appeal had been submitted too late.

This situation has been sad, we expected the judges and Olympic Games staff to do their job properly. I spare a thought for the American gymnasts, although it was I who got the medal today, says Barbosu.

On Thursday, Jordan Chiles revealed that she had received racist attacks on social media after the chaos surrounding the Olympic Games bronze.

Barbosu has also received hate online.

We athletes haven't done anything wrong, says the 18-year-old, whose mother Pompilia Barbosu has also spoken out, saying that the hate must stop.
