Minister of Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin (M) says in a press release that the name change is "an expression of the role and responsibility that the authority has assumed within Sweden's total defense."
On November 13, the government made the decisions to issue laws and regulatory amendments required for MSB to change its name.
The announcement comes after the Riksdag adopted the government's proposal for a name change earlier in November.
