Tre Kronor impressed on Thursday evening ahead of the upcoming World Cup, defeating host nation Switzerland 8–1 in the Fortuna Hockey Games.
In addition, the team has received further reinforcement.
In a post on X, Tre Kronor announced that center Oskar Sundqvist of St. Louis is joining the World Cup.
Sundqvist recorded 17 points (5 goals and 12 assists) this season.
The 32-year-old will be the sixth NHL Swede to qualify for the World Cup. Also included are Toronto's Oliver Ekman-Larsson; Chicago goalie Arvid Söderblom; Detroit defenseman Albert Johansson; and New York Islanders forwards Simon Holmström and Emil Heineman.
The World Cup in Switzerland will be held May 15–31.
