Mats Jonsson has written several autobiographical graphic novels and books for children and young adults. The family history "When We Were Sami" became the first graphic novel ever to be nominated for the August Prize in 2021.
The Golden Pen has been awarded since 1974 to a person who "in their journalistic profession protects the Swedish language".
