Young Dahlin, 24, has long been selected to Tre Kronor in the four-nation tournament in February with Sweden, Finland, USA, and Canada. He has not missed many matches in the NHL in recent seasons and it is unclear whether the back problems will force him to abstain from more matches.
He left after the first shift in the third period in Tuesday's match against Colorado and was not included in the lineup against Winnipeg, a match that ended 2–3 for the home team after Winnipeg decided in overtime.
I think it's short-term, but you never know, says coach Lindy Ruff on the club's website about the key player's back pain.
According to Ruff, the same problems were behind Dahlin's absence during the first week of the team's training camp in September.
