Gripen F is the two-seat variant of the Gripen E and has been developed in collaboration with Brazilian industry. This is because Brazil is the first buyer of the fighter aircraft. The country's Minister of Defense, José Múcio, was also present in Linköping at the unveiling.
"The rollout of Gripen F is a joint achievement between Saab, Brazilian industry and the Brazilian Air Force, and reflects the deep trust we have built together over many years," said Lars Tossman, Head of Business Area Aeronautics at Saab, in a press release.
Back in 2014, Saab received a contract to deliver 36 Gripen aircraft - 28 Gripen E and eight two-seat Gripen F - to the Brazilian Air Force. Saab has also received orders from Thailand and Colombia for Gripen F.
