Where Sweden will play remains to be seen, but national team captain Tomas Axnér and his players are all but certain to qualify for the championship.
The qualifiers began with convincing wins against Ukraine (33–25) and Lithuania (41–20). After a 29–26 win against Serbia in Kragujevac, Sweden is practically through to the playoffs.
At the same time, Nathalie Hagman reached the milestone of 1,000 goals for the national team. With seven tonight, the veteran has reached 1,001. Only Mia Hermansson-Högdahl (1,153) and Åsa Mogensen (1,108) have scored more.
The return leg against Serbia will be played in Lund on Saturday. The remaining matches against Ukraine and Lithuania will be played in April.
