Even Sweden is joining the EU countries seeking a way to rescue the threatened Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

It is important to consider what we can do. Radio Free Europe is an important voice for freedom and democracy, especially in places where we see that it is needed the most, says EU Minister Jessica Rosencrantz (The Moderate Party).

The news service is acutely threatened after a decision by US President Donald Trump to discontinue funding. The decision not only affects the employees at the headquarters in Prague but also around 200 colleagues who are still working underground in Russia and on Russian-occupied territory in Ukraine.
