Norway's now-deceased King Harald said yes to Sonja in Oslo Cathedral in 1968, after some resistance from his father, Olav. He is said to have been hesitant about his son's marriage to a non-royal.

Together they had two children, Princess Märtha Louise in 1971 and the now newly crowned King Haakon in 1973.

King Harald died at 6:35 a.m. on Friday morning, aged 89.
