The Gothenburg District Court rules that the agreement between the warring parties regarding the JLC gold is valid. However, the police cannot answer whether the gold will be released.

The gold and platinum bars found in a house in Mölndal that was purchased by two members of the comedy group JLC will now be divided fairly between the duo and those who sold the house, the parties reached an agreement earlier this week.

Now the Gothenburg District Court has ruled that the agreement is valid – but the question is whether the Police Authority will release the find, worth 13 million kronor.

When Göteborgs-Posten spoke to the police, they could not say whether the find would be released – nor had any request for extradition been received.

GP writes that the main obstacle to the Police Authority releasing the find is a group of pensioners, who claim that the gold bars may stem from an embezzlement scandal in the 1990s.

The pensioners were robbed of their assets when the scandalous company Tammstorp Futures went bankrupt and the cases in which the gold bars were found were marked with the company's name.

The case being pursued by the pensioners is now before the Supreme Court.
