Among the many happy scorers, Nikola Vasic was probably the happiest. He came on in the 60th minute.
Half an hour later he was doing interviews after his genuine hat trick.
It feels a bit surreal, I have to say. I have been fighting, fighting during the pre-season. We have strikers who have started who have scored goals all the time. It has been difficult for Kalle (Karlsson, the coach) to get everyone to play.
“Found in the heart”
It's a memory that will be in my heart for the rest of my life, Vasic says to TV4 about the three goals.
It is rarely easy for a newcomer to handle the demands of the Allsvenskan, something Örgryte painfully experienced with some delay.
A draw in the opening match against Malmö FF was followed by a 2–0 away win against Mjällby. A start that was truly impressive. Against Hammarby at 3 Arena, Örgryte were, organizationally, back to top-flight level for a long time.
It went downhill immediately.
Hammarby's shock start:
1–0 (11th minute): Noah Persson scored a clean and hard left-footed shot from distance.
2–0 (18th): Nahir Besara was left unmarked at the far post and had to tap in Persson's corner.
3–0 (22): Paulos Abraham scored the rebound after Hampus Gustafsson missed Victor Lind's shot.
“Good training week”
Christoffer Styffe reduced the deficit, but just a minute later Lind sent in 4–1 for Hammarby.
"It's fun, of course, but we're up and down. Otherwise, we're doing well. We're doing our thing, but I don't think we should be conceding goals," says Noah Persson.
It's good to have standards.
Montader Madjed made it 5-1 after the break, after which Nikola Vasic's show began. First 6-1, then 7-1, and with the last goal of the match, one of the most enjoyable football afternoons of his career was completed when he scored 8-1.
"I've had such a good week of training. As a goalscorer, sometimes you feel like you're going to score. I've told all my friends and family that. I didn't think I'd score three goals," says Vasic.
The performance exuded class. Not just Vasic's hat trick but Hammarby's entire performance.
