According to the Swedish Consumer Agency's assessment, the letters being sent out violate the Marketing Act. Among other things, the phrase "Our best offer ever! You get all this for just 49 kr for the first month" is used. The Swedish Consumer Agency believes that it is not clear that it is a subscription and not a one-time offer.
The Swedish Consumer Agency believes that the letter violates the Marketing Act.
"We have received the Swedish Consumer Agency's statement and we will, of course, respond to the questions posed by the authorities," writes the Social Democratic Party's press service in a comment to DN.
The Social Democratic Party has until February 19 to provide answers about measures.
Dagens Nyheter revealed in September that the Social Democratic Party's lottery company Kombispel, via the telemarketing company Effective Communication, sold lottery tickets to people who likely did not understand the terms of purchase, such as the need to cancel lottery subscriptions.
Employees have described the sales methods as "harassment".
Since May 2022 until September 2024, Kombispel has been reported to the Swedish Consumer Agency dozens of times, and several of these reports concern telephone sales.
Supervisory cases against S, SSU, and S-women, who are license holders for the lottery, are ongoing at the Gaming Inspectorate and the Swedish Consumer Agency.
In 2023, the lottery business gave 10.6 million kronor to the Social Democratic Party's party fund and 6.9 million to the youth association SSU.
