The construction industry sees a certain increase in housing construction next year, after 2024 which is described as a bottom year.

"Housing construction has halved in just a few years. Now the fog is lifting and we see a certain recovery", writes the CEO of Byggföretagen, Catharina Elmsäter-Svärd, in a written comment.

Housing construction is expected to increase by 5,400 initiated dwellings during the forecast period 2024-2025, according to the industry organization Byggföretagen's new forecast. They now expect 33,700 new apartments and small houses to be started next year.

In the business sector, the demand for new premises and facilities is more stable. Within the energy industry, the demand for new facilities is particularly high, while the increased allocations to the Swedish Transport Administration will not be noticeable in order books until 2026/2027, according to Byggföretagen.

Overall, construction investments are expected to increase by five percent in 2025 after having declined for two years in a row.
