At the end of the year or early 2026, the final issue of Portal, which will be a double issue, will arrive in subscribers' mailboxes, the newspaper announced in a press release.
The reason is that it is not financially viable for the magazine, which is largely financed with production support from the Swedish Cultural Council. "All of Portal's income is used to cover production and printing costs, but not the other costs that arise in the form of personnel, premises, administration and the like," it writes.
Portal was started by Seriefrämjandet in early 2022 and has a focus on fantasy, science fiction and horror, as well as a stated goal of providing an opportunity for new series creators to find a place.
"We are incredibly proud to have contributed to raising new faces in the Swedish comics market," they write.
