A masked supporter unplugged the TV when a penalty situation was about to be reviewed by VAR during the match between Münster and Hertha Berlin in Germany's second division.
Münster captain Jorrit Hendrix said he was pleased by the incident.
"If they can do something to influence it, then do it. I completely understand that and I think it's good," Hendrix told the TV program Sportschau.
Despite the screen going dark, the video referee was able to make the decision and informed the head referee that it was a penalty.
Since VAR was introduced in German football in 2017, it has been controversial among fans, many of whom believe video reviews and the interruptions they cause disrupt the flow of the game.
