The bottom teams in Sweden's Nations League group, Azerbaijan and Estonia, drew in the penultimate round. The meeting in Azerbaijani Gabala ended goalless.
Both teams were already out of the running for first place in Group 1 in the C Division. This evening, a group final awaits between Sweden and Slovakia – a winning team at Strawberry Arena in Solna takes home the group win and is promoted to the B Division.
If the match ends in a draw, it will be decided in the final round on Tuesday. Sweden will then face Azerbaijan at Strawberry Arena, while Slovakia will have a home match against Estonia.
Estonia has four points and Azerbaijan one point after five matches played.
A group win in the Nations League (NL) can also provide a lifeline in the event of a failed World Championship qualification. Four NL group winners will get a spot in the playoffs for the 2026 World Championship. This applies to the four best-ranked group winners who do not finish top two in their World Championship qualifying group.
Corrected: In an earlier version, Estonia's points were incorrect.
