Things are brightening up a bit for the business community, from a low level. But not in the job market. In almost all industries, employment for white-collar workers is expected to decrease in the coming six months, according to the Union's local clubs.

"The bleak picture of the situation for white-collar workers is not about any single industry weighing down the whole, but rather about a wet blanket that has been placed over large parts of the business community," writes the white-collar workers' union Unionen in a forecast based on the assessment of over 500 local clubs.

The forest and basic industries as well as the automotive industry are sub-industries where things look weaker.

A notable exception is the defense industry, where demand for white-collar workers is strong.

However, the demand for IT consultants is generally particularly weak. The union speculates that increased implementation of AI in the workplace may have reduced demand for IT personnel, at least in the short term.
