Cheered on by the home crowd, de Minaur did his best to shake off Carlos Alcaraz. But the Spaniard, who, together with Italian Jannik Sinner, has dominated men's tennis in recent years, was unyielding.
The Spaniard is through to the semifinals after an impressive 3–0 win (7–5, 6–2, 6–1) in Tuesday's quarterfinal.
"I'm just so happy with how I've played all the matches. I've gotten better and better with each round," Alcaraz said in the victory interview.
The 22-year-old has already won six Grand Slam titles in his career, but this is the first time he has reached the semifinals in Melbourne. There, he will face German Alexander Zverev.
