When Columbus and Chicago met in NHL ice hockey at the weekend, there was a special birthday boy in the audience.

It was the late NHL star Johnny Gaudreau's son, Johnny Gaudreau Junior, who was present at Columbus' home arena on his one-year birthday.

When the audience burst into song, the boy was seen on the jumbotron waving and clapping his hands.

The son was only seven months old when NHL brothers Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau died after being hit during a bike ride.

"Johnny Hockey", as he was called, is primarily associated with Calgary, where he played for over eight seasons and scored plenty of goals, but he also played two seasons for Columbus.

The match ended 5–1 to Columbus.
