"The Åre Murders mean incredibly much to me and it feels very exciting that it's now time for the TV series to see the light of day on a leading streaming service like Netflix", says Viveca Sten in a press release.
The series is based on "The Sacrificial Offering" and "The Valley Shadow" and is about police officer Hanna Ahlander who moves to her sister's cabin in Åre. When a young woman disappears on St. Lucy's Night, she begins to investigate the case on her own.
Among others, Carla Sehn, Kardo Razzazi, and Olle Sarri can be seen in the roles.
The series premieres on February 6 next year.
"The Åre Murders" were initially intended to be shown on Viaplay, but the streaming service has been forced to cancel several commissioned productions due to economic problems.
