The Adidas Stockholm Marathon: An emotional race through downtown Stockholm

On May 31, 2025, thousands of runners from around the world will gather in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, to participate in the 'adidas Stockholm Marathon'. The marathon, which starts in two groups at noon and 12:10 p.m., is a total distance of 42.195 km and is set against the backdrop of a beautiful and historic cityscape.

The marathon course crosses 14 islands, which are symbols of Stockholm, and presents a unique landscape where nature and the city are in harmony. Participants will experience the charm of a European capital through their senses, passing through various cultural attractions and along the coast, including the well-preserved medieval old town of 'Gamla Stan'.

In particular, the finish line is the traditional stadium where the 1912 Olympics were held, the ‘Stockholm Olympic Stadium.’ This stadium is a historical site where a whopping 83 world records were set, and it is also the venue where the most track and field world records have been set globally. For runners, it is not just a finish line, but a symbolic finish line where they have overcome their battle with themselves.

A competition official said, “The Adidas Stockholm Marathon is a festival where you can feel the culture, nature, and community spirit of Sweden beyond a simple sports event,” and added, “We hope that all participants will set their own ‘world record’ and return home.”
