Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn has signed a decree from the country's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to dissolve the national parliament.

This means that parliamentary elections could be held earlier than expected in the country, as early as the beginning of next year.

The dissolution occurs after a conflict arose within the largest group in parliament.

"This happened because we are not making progress in parliament," government spokesman Siripong Angkasakulkiat told Reuters .
