Thailand could lose three million tourists, authorities warn

The war in Iran risks hitting one of Thailand's most important industries - tourism. Thai authorities are now warning that visitor numbers could fall to their lowest level in three years.

If the conflict continues for another six months, up to three million tourists and as much as $4.6 billion in revenue could be lost.

To mitigate the damage, the country's tourism organization now hopes to attract wealthy visitors from the Middle East seeking to escape the situation at home.

Campaigns previously targeted at the US and Europe will instead be focused on countries and tourists in the Middle East.
