The President of the USA, Donald Trump, who previously mediated in the matter, was present when the agreement was signed in Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur, together with Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The relationship between Thailand and Cambodia deteriorated already in May, when a Cambodian soldier was shot dead during an exchange of gunfire across the border. Thereafter, regular battles broke out, before a ceasefire was concluded in August. The parties have, however, clashed on several occasions after that.
