Texas Instruments agrees to buy Silicon Laboratories for $7.5 billion

The American semiconductor giant Texas Instruments has agreed to buy Silicon Laboratories. The deal is valued at $7.5 billion, equivalent to 67 billion kronor.

Silicon Laboratories, a competitor to Texas Instruments, manufactures chips for everything from smart appliances to industrial automation and battery and lighting technologies.

The deal shows that Texas Instruments continues to focus on its core business.
