Six people are being charged with terrorism offences in Lithuania and are accused of trying to sabotage aid shipments to Ukraine in an arson attack.

All six are foreign nationals: a Spaniard, a Colombian, a dual Spanish-Colombian national, a Cuban, a Russian and a Belarusian.

According to the indictment, they were planning, on behalf of Russia's military intelligence service, the GRU, to set fire to a company in Lithuania that supplies radio equipment to the Ukrainian military. The attack allegedly failed when they were caught by passersby.

The six are charged with attempted terrorist offences, financing terrorist activities and participation in a terrorist organisation. There are four other suspects: three are internationally wanted and one is to be extradited.

The group is linked to other attempts to set fires at logistically important locations in Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic.
