This week marks 40 days since thousands of protesters were killed across Iran in connection with protests against the regime.
In many places, commemorations of the deceased have been transformed into new opportunities to express dissatisfaction with the regime.
The American think tank CTP-ISW has noted twelve demonstrations across seven provinces on Tuesday.
In the Kurdish town of Abdanan in western Iran, security forces reportedly opened fire on mourners.
Clashes are also reported from the city of Mashhad. According to Iranian opposition media in exile, schools have been closed in several cities as students strike to honor the memory of slain classmates.
