According to the organizer, up to 200,000 demonstrators were there to protest the government, which they believe threatens democracy and steers the country away from support for Ukraine.
Billionaire Babiš, who also led the country from 2017 to 2021, formed a nationalist three-party government in December. The government has aligned with Hungary and Slovakia in its position on Ukraine and opposes all financial aid to the country and EU loan guarantees in its war against Russia.
The protest follows a recent decision in the lower house to maintain Babiš's immunity from prosecution in a wide-ranging fraud case involving EU subsidies.
