During 2027-2029, Svenska kraftnät plans to invest SEK 70 billion, SEK 14 billion more than in last year's business plan. Most of this will go toward increasing the transmission capacity of the national grid.

The authority is sitting on a mountain of old bottleneck revenues - over SEK 80 billion is in the account - money that continues to accrue because of large electricity price differences between the north and the south.

During 2026-2031, an additional nearly SEK 80 billion in bottleneck revenues is expected, or SEK 10-20 billion per year, of which approximately SEK 120 billion will be used during the same period for investments and reduced national grid fees.
