Tennis star Marketa Vondrousova misses the OS in Paris.

The silver medalist from the OS in Tokyo announces on social media that a hand injury puts a stop to it.

"I'm very sad, but due to health reasons, I will not participate in this year's OS in Paris. I had hoped until the last minute that it could at least work out in doubles, but my hand problems won't let me get on the court," she writes.

The Czech won Wimbledon last year and is currently ranked 18th in the world.

Vondrousova's focus now is to get back to the US Open.

Later on Monday, world number seven on the men's side, Herbert Hurkacz, also withdrew from the OS tennis.

The Pole injured his knee during Wimbledon and will not be playing in Paris.
