At least ten people have died in a Russian attack on a shopping center in the city of Kostiantynivka in eastern Ukraine, according to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. Another 35 people have been injured, he writes on the messaging service Telegram.
Rescue operations are underway at the site. Local media show video and images of thick, black smoke rising from the burning building.
"This is yet another targeted attack on a civilian site, another terrorist act by the Russians", writes the local governor of the eastern Donetsk region on social media.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj promises to respond to the attack, which occurred in the middle of the day.
"Russia will be held accountable for this terror", Zelenskyj writes in a post on Telegram.
The city where the attack took place is located near the Russian front line and is almost daily subjected to Russian attacks.
The Russian attack comes at the same time as Ukraine's offensive on Russian territory in the Kursk area.
