The deal is announced in connection with Telia releasing quarterly figures for the second quarter. The bid, which the board of Bredband2 unanimously recommends that shareholders accept, entails a premium to Thursday's closing price of 34.9 percent, i.e. 3.25 kronor per share.
"The Swedish broadband market is developing rapidly and we believe that this cooperation would help Bredband2 to compete and remain relevant by broadening its range of services", writes Telia's CEO Patrik Hofbauer in a comment.
The company made a operating profit of 3.4 billion kronor for the second quarter at the same time. This can be compared to the profit of 3 billion during the same period last year.
Revenues amounted to 19.8 billion, an increase of 1.2 percent on a comparable basis.
