Telenor Acquires Global Connect's Consumer Business in $6 Billion Deal

The Norwegian mobile operator Telenor buys the company Global Connect's consumer business in a deal valued at six billion Norwegian kronor.

According to Telenor, the deal means a strategically significant step for the position in the Norwegian market for fiber networks. Telenor's market share in terms of fiber in Norway increases from 22 percent to 29 percent as a result of the deal, based on 2024 figures, writes Telenor in a press release.

With the deal, which must be approved by the Norwegian competition authority to be completed, Telenor also gets 140,000 new customers.
