France has lifted the travel ban on billionaire and messaging app Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov.

Durov was arrested at Bourget Airport outside Paris in August 2024 – suspected of failing to act against criminals using Telegram. He was released but placed under a travel ban after being questioned by police for several days.

The restrictions have been eased previously, but now the travel ban has been completely lifted.

During the initial interrogation, Durov acknowledged that criminal activity on the platform had increased and promised to strengthen monitoring. At the same time, he has denied the allegations and condemned France for the arrest.
