Tele2 shall pay twelve million kronor in penalty fees for having transferred personal data to the USA and thus breached the EU's data protection regulation, writes the Administrative Court of Appeal.

The background is that the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection decided after supervision of Tele2 that the company would pay the penalty fee. The company is said to have used the tool Google Analytics on its website and thus transferred personal data to a country outside the EU.

The Administrative Court of Appeal now follows the same line and assesses that Tele2 has contravened the data protection regulation.
