The linear channel Viaplay Sport is missing from the range of several Tele2 customers, who now seem to miss Sweden's group stage match against Poland.
SVT and Viaplay share the rights to this year's championship. When TV6 is not broadcasting Sweden's matches, it is only customers with the channel package "Viaplay Total" who get access to the broadcasts at Tele2.
There are no negotiations between Viaplay Group and Tele2 at the moment, says Viaplay's press chief Susanne Nylén to Expressen, and continues:
It's sad that Tele2's customers are getting stuck again, we saw a similar situation last autumn when their customers did not get access to the Champions League.
Fredrik Hallstan believes it's about packaging.
The reason it's not included in all our packages is that Viaplay has chosen to charge a high cost, he says to TT. It's impossible to offer it in this package without raising the costs. We understand that many want to follow the European Championship, but few would have appreciated the price increase.
At the same time, others such as Telia, Telenor, Allente and Sappa are offering Viaplay Sport without raising the price.
All content providers are different, says Hallstan. We can only note that the price we got (from Viaplay) was not reasonable in relation to what customers would have to pay.
Is there a chance for a solution between Tele2 and Viaplay during the European Championship?
That's something we don't comment on. But it's not like you can't watch football European Championship with us, if you want to watch football it's available in one of our packages.
