Temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius are expected in the capital and the government urges citizens to stay indoors during the hottest hours of the day, as well as to take measures to reduce electricity and water consumption.
Teheran was also closed down in July last year due to high temperatures.
But it's not just Teheran that has been affected by the heat wave, in the city of Borazjan in the southern Bushehr province, temperatures rose to 50 degrees the last day.
