On Thursday, the prosecutor asked for the boy to be detained on probable cause, the higher of the two levels of suspicion.
"The district court has decided to detain the boy to prevent him from destroying evidence or otherwise influencing the investigation," district prosecutor Sara Ekström said in a press release.
According to the detention request, there is also considered to be a risk that the boy will continue his criminal activity. It is also considered that there are exceptional grounds for detaining him even though he has not yet turned 18.
The boy has been in detention since Monday.
The next steps will be to hear witnesses and examine additional evidence, according to the press release.
