The older girl, who is 15 years old, is sentenced to closed youth care for two years and two months. The younger one is only 13 years old and therefore not criminally responsible.

The girls have denied the murder and said that their intention was not to kill.

However, the Lund District Court points out in the verdict that they had previously expressed an intention to subject the 14-year-old to violence. And on the same day they attacked her, a chat group was created called "RIP" (rest in peace) followed by the 14-year-old's name.

Wanted revenge

The motive was to avenge the 14-year-old for calling a friend of one of the girls a "whore or little whore", according to the court.

She was found on an old goods yard on the night of July 23 last year. She had been lured there under the pretext of going to a party with the two other girls, whom she had met when they were placed in the same Sis home.

Before she arrived, the two girls had gone around stores and stolen, among other things, a knife and silver tape. When the 14-year-old arrived, she was attacked and bound with the tape. She was then subjected to severe violence, including knife wounds to the neck and legs, which led to her death.

The violence she was subjected to is described by the court as "torture-like" and at the same time, it is established that the 14-year-old suffered severe suffering before she died.

Denies murder

The girls have denied the murder, but admitted to aggravated assault.

The girls have largely admitted to the violence that occurred, but have said that they did not intend to kill the girl. There, the district court has come to the conclusion that their intention also included the intentional killing that occurs at the end when the girl gets stabbed in the neck, says Judge Björn Hansson to TT.

The prosecutor had requested four years of closed youth care for the 15-year-old. According to the judge, "simple math" is behind the shorter sentence.

Sentence equivalent to life imprisonment

The starting point is that for an adult, the sentence for the crime would have been life imprisonment, which in practice means at least 18 years in prison.

If you are 15 years old, you should have one-fifth of the sentence. A little deduction for having been detained with restrictions and a little deduction because there is no conditional release for those who have closed youth care, says Björn Hansson.

Imprisonment, which the representative for the murdered 14-year-old's mother had requested, was not an option.

We have shared the prosecutor's opinion that for children of this age, imprisonment is not an option, says Björn Hansson.
