In March, Gout Gout achieved a world season best on 200 meters and is compared by many to Usain Bolt.

Now he has received his World Championship ticket, announces the Australian athletics federation.

"I'm super happy to have been selected to run 200 meters in Tokyo at the World Championship", says Gout in a statement on the federation's website.

"This is what we have aimed for. I'm looking forward to September and see what I can do against the best of the best."

At the Australian championships in Perth, he won with a time of 19.84 in a race with too much tailwind. The sprint talent, who will still be 17 years old at the championship, has a valid personal record with a time of 20.04.
