The murder took place in July 2024 when a 16-year-old boy was shot to death on a pedestrian path. Shortly after the incident, two teenage boys were arrested and in February, they were charged.
Now, the 17-year-old is sentenced to prison for, among other things, murder, attempted murder, and preparation for murder.
The accomplice, a 15-year-old, is sentenced to closed youth care for two years and three months for aiding and abetting murder, aiding and abetting attempted murder, and preparation for murder.
"The district court has found that it is proven that the 17-year-old was the shooter and perpetrator of the crimes. As for the 15-year-old, the district court believes that he in various ways promoted the crimes, including by arranging accommodation for the 17-year-old," writes Södertörn's district court in a press release.
The fatal shooting received extensive media attention and hundreds of people gathered shortly afterwards in a manifestation to mourn the boy who was shot to death.
Södertörn's district court writes in the press release that the crime is considered part of a conflict between criminal gangs, but that "it has not emerged that the shot 16-year-old had any connection to gang criminality".
