Guo was apprehended by Chilean authorities after he deviated from his planned route, reports CBS News.
According to authorities in Chile, he was detained on King George Island, a small island that is part of the South Shetland Islands, after flying there without permission from Punta Arenas near Chile's southern tip.
The 19-year-old, who has over a million followers on social media, is attempting to become the first pilot in history to complete a solo flight over the world's seven continents in a small Cessna plane. During the trip, he is also aiming to collect $1 million for cancer research.
The arrest has significantly delayed Guo's record attempt, writes BBC. He had been traveling for over 140 days and had crossed six continents when he was apprehended.
