The woman was out walking her dog at the beginning of January when she was attacked and seriously injured by a knife stab in her back.
Later the same day, the 14-year-old was taken in for questioning.
During the so-called evidence hearing held in Borås District Court, he confessed to the knife attack, which he also livestreamed on the internet.
Prior Offenses
According to prosecutor Louise Bremander, the boy has had connections to the violent online sect 764 and the related "No lives matter" (NLM). Two similar knife attacks, also with connections to the movement, were carried out last year in Hässelby.
In the interrogations, the boy himself told that he has difficulty making friends and wanted to get attention in a group on the internet. He claims, however, that other group members pressured him to commit the knife attack.
On January 4, the boy waited until it got dark before going out to look for a victim. He had a kitchen knife with him.
At the same time, he livestreamed with his mobile phone to other members of the group.
Must Pay Damages
After 40-50 minutes, he saw the woman, went up behind her, and stabbed her in the left part of her back.
According to the boy, the purpose was not to kill the woman, and Borås District Court agrees. The court believes that it is proven that the boy stabbed the woman, but not that he had the intention to murder. He is therefore acquitted of the crime of attempted murder.
The boy, who since he is a minor cannot be sentenced to any punishment, must, however, pay damages to the woman of approximately 160,000 kronor.
