In large parts, it was a pain-free Melodifestival – but still, the broadcast was marred by some disturbances.

When the international jury groups appeared on screen during the Melodifestivalen final, technical problems arose and host Edvin Törnblom had to, among other things, personally announce Lithuania's points.

At first, we didn't have contact with the right country, it was Ireland that appeared on screen but Lithuania's points. Then we got contact, but no sound. But for the result, it never had any significance since we already have the numbers here with us, says the competition's project leader Anders Wistbacka.

How can the contact be so bad in 2025?

Yes, one can ask oneself that. It's not good, of course. Exactly what caused it, we don't know. It's eight countries that we quickly need to have contact with. It's live, broadcast, and unfortunately, it's the kind of thing that happens.

During SVT Play's broadcast after the final with the winning group Kaj, the sound also disappeared, and viewers could initially not hear what the winners had to say.

Other mishaps during the evening included Måns Zelmerlöw getting confetti in his mouth, Dolly Style's pyrotechnics malfunctioning, and Maja Ivarsson disappearing in a cloud of smoke for a brief second. Dolly Style wanted to redo their number, but was denied by SVT.

There was some contact that malfunctioned, very unfortunately. But it wasn't enough to warrant a replay. It has to be some kind of crucial element that hasn't worked. And I don't think that was the case, but rather a detail at the end.
