The index movements were relatively small on the New York stock exchange on Wednesday.

Broad S&P 500 index rose 0.1 percent, Dow Jones index fell 0.2 percent and technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index climbed 0.7 percent.

A majority of the shares in S&P 500 fell, but it was offset by gains for large technology companies. Super Micro Computer soared 15.7 after the company signed a cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabian data center company Datavolt. And index-heavy chip giant Nvidia climbed 4.0 percent.

On the other hand, clothing chain American Eagle went. The share fell 5.9 percent after the company withdrew its forecast for the full year 2025 citing "macroeconomic uncertainty". Thus, American Eagle joins a range of companies in different industries - General Motors, UPS, Heinz and Jetblue - which have warned about the consequences of trade policy and a weakened economy.
