The leading indexes on the New York Stock Exchange began the trading week on a positive note, following an upswing in the tech sector.
The broad S&P 500 index rose 0.3 per cent, the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index increased 0.4 per cent, and the Dow Jones industrial index advanced 0.2 per cent.
Among the winners were index-heavy technology companies such as semiconductor giant Nvidia, up 0.8 per cent, and Facebook's parent company Meta, up 2.0 per cent.
Apple, which presented an AI initiative in the evening, fell 1.9 per cent.
On Wednesday, the next interest rate decision from the US central bank, the Federal Reserve, is due.
