"It's great that we can now get back to racing on the track and focus on what looks to be an exciting IndyCar season," says McLaren boss Zak Brown.

Palou signed a contract with McLaren in 2023 with an eye on one of the team's places in Formula 1. When McLaren then signed Oscar Piastri, Palou did not want to leave his IndyCar team Ganassi, with whom he had won four of the last five championships, to compete for McLaren in IndyCar.

In January, Palou was ordered to pay almost 110 million kronor for withdrawing from a dual contract with McLaren, but now the parties have reached a settlement.

The IndyCar season kicks off on Sunday, with Palou competing for Ganassi. Swedes Marcus Ericsson and Felix Rosenqvist are competing for Andretti Global and Meyer Shank Racing, respectively.
